Brewongle
Located in New South Wales, southeast of Bathurst in the community of Brewongle, the solar farm is currently in the early development phase. The project will be developed by Edify, and once complete, could generate approximately 215,000 MWh per annum of renewable energy, powering around 36,000 homes and businesses.
At peak construction, the project will employ around 250 people full time, recruiting local trades, workers and businesses as much as possible. During the build, which will take approximately 18 months, the community can expect to benefit from the positive economic flow to local hospitality, retail and general business. Once complete, the project will employ 5 people full time.
Edify’s projects have successfully grazed sheep on existing solar farms, and Brewongle Solar Farm includes plans to also implement this ’agrisolar’ enterprise.
With the initial Scoping Report lodged with NSW Department of Planning in December 2023, the next stage of development will include:
- Biodiversity surveys
- Aboriginal Cultural & Heritage Surveys
- Preparation of photomontages and visual impact assessments
- Community Consultation
- Detailed studies required to complete the Environmental Impact Statement (Planning Application)
