Gannawarra
Developed by Edify, the Gannawarra Solar Farm is a 60.0 MWp single-axis tracking project located west of Kerang in northwest Victoria. It was the first large-scale solar farm to be constructed in Victoria and is integrated with the Gannawarra Energy Storage System – a 25MW / 50MWh Tesla Powerpack battery.
Gannawarra Solar Farm is co-owned by Edify and Gentari and was financed in a portfolio transaction that included the Whitsunday and Hamilton Solar Farms.
The solar farm has an offtake agreement with EnergyAustralia to supply clean green energy and is supported by the Gannawarra Shire Council.
In November 2020, sheep were introduced to the Gannawarra Solar and Energy Storage Farm as part of an agrisolar trial in partnership with the Landowner. The Agrisolar trial at Gannawarra is a new industry benchmark, with the introduction of sheep grazing the first of its kind on the same land that hosts Australia’s first utility–scale solar and battery power station.
Located near the great Dhungala waterway, known today as the Murray River, Gannawarra Solar Farm is on the traditional lands of the Barapa Barapa, Wamba Wamba and Yorta Yorta People.
